We spoke with Kh. Peljee, Senior Marketing and Sales Manager of “Bayasakh Atlas” LLC, about the construction industry and the quality and standards of building materials.
- Hello. Could you introduce yourself?
- Hello. My name is Kh. Peljee, Senior Marketing and Sales Manager at “Bayasakh Atlas” LLC. I’m pleased to have this conversation with you.
- Could you tell us about your company?
- Bayasakh Atlas LLC is a company with a 15-year history. Since 2007, we have continuously operated by supplying our customers with products from the Polish brand “ATLAS,” one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of materials for building facades and interior and exterior finishing. We have supplied and completed the exterior facades of many buildings rising throughout the city. In addition, since 2022 we have officially imported interior and exterior finishing materials from the Russian brand “Bergauf,” which meet high-quality standards. These products have been in strong demand and are experiencing growing sales.
- What are your thoughts on Mongolia’s construction sector?
- The construction sector in Mongolia is developing very rapidly. As it develops, we need to understand one important thing: the end user is us—people. The concept of construction should be centered around people, focusing on health, safety, and environmental friendliness as key indicators of development. The two main factors in construction are labor and materials. Therefore, the quality and standards of building materials should be a top priority.
- What qualifies as high-quality construction materials?
- As mentioned earlier, the connection between the two key factors—labor and materials—and proper execution according to standards determines quality. For example, there are foam insulation boards used for exterior facades. If dense but still wet foam boards are cut and installed on exterior walls, they may lose their shape, bulge, and lose durability over time. On the other hand, if foam boards that are fully dried but low in density are used, they will also become low quality in the future due to insufficient durability and poor insulation.
- Similarly, with our ATLAS brand stone facade system, there are reinforcing mesh and mesh adhesive materials used. Some users choose cheaper, low-quality adhesives, which do not match the stone facade system and can cause incorrect chemical reactions. This disrupts the technology and reduces the durability of the facade. Exterior facade systems should be installed as a complete standard-based system to ensure proper insulation.
- What is your opinion on the appearance of buildings and structures in Ulaanbaatar?
- The appearance of a city is directly related to construction quality and standards. Poor-quality exterior facades may fade, peel, crack, and lose insulation within two or three years. This negatively affects the city’s visual appearance and creates discomfort for residents. It also leads to additional costs and time spent on repairs.
- Buildings constructed by developers and contractors who choose our ATLAS brand facade materials remain in excellent condition even after 10 years. We consider this a real demonstration of quality and value, and we are proud of it. Therefore, using proven construction materials from highly developed countries and applying them correctly according to technology will positively influence the quality and standards of construction in Mongolia. Our company’s main goal is to promote and establish the proper combination of high-quality building materials and correct execution practices in Mongolia.
- Thank you for taking the time to speak with us.
- Thank you as well.
